In this opportunity I am going to talk about the prevention of the paediatric poisonings, because this is a very important issue and it’s insert in one of the fundamentals functions of the nursery’s professionals, which is to educate the population in order to avoid the serious consequences that an accident can bring.
The intention of the choice of my topic is to teach how to act in case of a poisoning in children of between 1 and 5 years, considering that a poisoning, it is the reaction of the organism to the entry of any toxic substance that causes injury or disease and sometimes, the death. These can be for ingestion, inhalation, exhibition or injection of the substance.
To be able to satisfy the purpose mentioned in the previous paragraph, there was necessary the utilization of materials and methods which were focused in the prevention and in the internalization of the topic, for what there was necessary the accomplishment of a bibliographical research, where I check different pages of Internet and papers, as the following ones:
After this, I continued reading the information. In general, I found the definition of a poisoning, the most common reasons of poisoning in children younger that 6 years and measures to prevent a poisoning. These are the most important measures:
• All medications and cleaning products should be closed in a locked cabinet.• Never be exceeded drug doses prescribed by your doctor.
•You must properly label all containers.
• it should not be stored in the same place different types of products (for example: medicines and cleaning products).
On the other hand, as a result of have chosen this topic, I had the chance to go deeply and acquire a major knowledge about the prevention in case of poisoning, to which also it is necessary to add the great usefulness of the bibliographic research for our academic life.
Finally, after the development of this topic, it is necessary to emphasize the fundamental role of the nursing professional in the education of the community, where it is important to remember them that children are curious by nature, because of that the vigilance and the care from the parents becomes very important. Simple measures can avoid serious consequences product of the poisonings.
